The cells
Part 1: Defeats 'N Achievements
Chapter 4: I, Pronu
"
Today is always better than yesterday and tomorrow is always better than today. Yet on this ever rising crescendo of life, we keep crossing our own paths. We, often serendipitously, land on a totem from our past lives. It can take form of a familiar person who, like unnoticeable and unintentional process of evaporation, faded out of our lives once, just to suddenly reappear. Or it can be a priced possession from the past, like a gift or a melody, which carries densely packed memories. The totem can as well be a thought or a feeling, which you remember having pondered over or felt before.
You are reading a book and you accidentally flip to an earlier chapter, and you realise that you have read this one already. The chapter feels familiar, yet because of the pages gone by since, it feels different.
You can't step in the same river twice; because you change and the river flows.
In this seemingly random journey of life, there is no saying when and how many times we cross our own roads. One thing, however, is certain. We get wiser with every subsequent crossing. On every tryst, we perceive more than we did before. Each time we experience it through a broader eye and a wiser mind than before.
And thus I sit here, on this giant rock by the river, for the third and final time in my life. The first time, I remember lying drenched and exhausted on this rock, at my birth, unsure of where I had arrived. The second time I remember standing tall at the edge, in the peak of my youth, debating with myself and in the process conceiving and forging my future. And today, I sit here in retrospection, in the hope that experiences around these three fulcrums of my life, serve as a guiding light for everything to follow.
If you are reading this, then the seed I am sowing now have become trees and are bearing fruits.
To give you an idea, I am confused. I am not sure what to do next. I have lived my life making all kinds of decisions, but today when I face this simple decision, it just feels too difficult. It is so difficult that I feel ill equipped to decide myself. In a certain way, I believe that it is not mine to make either. Hence on the verge of this decision I have decided to do which I have never done before. I have decided to go both ways.
A part of me thinks that it is a good idea to go towards the white light of the moon and go with the flow of this stream. Another part of me is still keen to face the sun and keep moving against the stream to explore more in life alone. If I go towards the sun, a part of me seeking bliss and rest, would be a burden on the other and wont let the ambitious part succeed in what it wants to do. At the same time if I decide to rest and let the stream take control, the restlessness of the ambitious part in me wont let the other part achieve bliss it is seeking.
Thus, I have decided that to make tomorrow better than today, it is time to go both ways and achieve both the quests. I know by doing this my identity will be lost. Because, where will 'I' be if there are two walled compounds going different ways. The 'I' that is being carried by me all this along will die today. The 'I' which was created the day I swam towards greenland breaking my schedule days ago, will cease to exist after today.
So, I am attached to this 'I' but because I believe that tomorrow will be better than today, rather than worry about the death of this 'I', I have decided to put all the knowledge that I have acquired into this diary. I will make a copy of this diary and distribute it among my two children. They may go their separate ways but they both will have my knowledge, and if a day comes when they have to make a difficult decision which they believe is not for them to make, they will add their experiences in this diary too. Giving birth to children and passing on their defeats and achievements forward to their children.
Just like the fellows on the greenland "branch" into separate walls, when they feel they have enough food, today I will attempt to branch, not because I have enough food, but because I believe that I have too much hunger to fulfill alone.
Thus I am writing this as I believe that the world has a lot to offer to an explorer and because tomorrow is always better than today. I am writing this now because 'I' am dying today.

The cells
Part 1: Defeats 'N Achievements
Chapter 3: Infinite
Rustcell was lost for words.
"Did this small vacuole like creature actually went in there and searched the entire cell knowledge in a jiffy and came back with what was written about DNA? probably centuries ago? How did it do that? What if it can search anything? how is it doing it? o my dear pronu! this means we can ask it anything...any thing and it will fetch us an answer from the holy book... the possibilities are immense."
Rustcell's mind was on an overdrive, yet his house showed no signs of the turbulence inside. The house had learnt in all this years that, rustcell was fascinated about every new thing he learnt about.
The house walls had shaken out of excitement for a whole day, when Rustcell had first learnt about origins of Pronu from a fellow cell, who had heard about it from his neighbour, who in turn had heard it from his.
Similarly, on hearing about Mighto and his story, he had started referring to the power tap in his house as Mighto and urged everyone in the neighbourhood to treat their taps with respect. He told them that mighto was as holy as Pronu, if not more. Not many cells bothered about what he said, some young ones made fun of him while the old ones pretended to follow his word out of pity.
"infinite" was the word which spilled out from Rustcell, when his mind could not contain the excitement any longer.
Eincell, acknowledged this with a smile. " Infinite possibilities indeed, dear Rustcell "
After some moments, Eincell thought that Rustcell had settled from the surprise of meeting Bingo. He wanted to ask Rustcell about what should be their first question. He leaned forwards, towards the wall separating them. But even before Eincell could start asking the question, Rustcell calmly started,
" This is going to be a long and interesting journey , Eincell. There are things I know to be true. there are things I think I know which i would like to confirm. And then there is the unknown. I have spent my entire life seeking answers and today when you have shown me Bingo, I feel that my curiosities have been rewarded. "
" We have a lot to learn about ourselves, and after today, after hearing about our origins and about the decisions our ancestors had to make, you would be a very different cell, dear Eincell. If this thing can do what you say it can, then we are going to go to the very origin of what we call life. We will get the privilege of hearing our ancestors' stories, their adventures, their follies, their achievements and their thoughts in their own words. "
"Now that you know about DNA, each and every living thing has one chapter in his holy book. One chapter that is common to every DNA, despite their differences in form. A DNA in the house of a cell in an Elephant's trunk has this chapter. A DNA in the cell of the petals of the rose has it. Every cell in this body which we are part of has it, i have it and you must be having it. This was written just before the death of Pronu, by Pronu himself. I had wept out of amazement for a whole week after I read the chapter from my DNA. Why don't we begin at the beginning? "
"Bingo! I, Pronu "

01/02 Bingo!
The cells
Part 1: Defeats 'N Achievements
Chapter 2: Bingo
Even before Rustcell finished his carefully crafted affirmation, Eincell, in all his dexterity, had already started wobbling and shaking in weird ways. Blue sparks were flying off sporadically from various parts of his house. Rustcell, all this while, kept calm but observed the routine keenly.
Rustcell and Eincell have been neighbours from the time Eincell was formed. Rustcell and Eincell's Mapa grew up together. 'He would have been proud to see Eincell' thought Rustcell from across the wall.
Suddenly Rustcell heard a "Boing!" from Eincell's compound .
"Mighto? Problem?" enquired Rustcell.
"No. Tap's fine, just a bit overcharged.", explained Eincell while coming close to the wall, where Rustcell stood leaning.
"Controllable?", he asked slightly irritated.
"I need the tap on hyper mode for this demonstration. So not to worry"
"Call it Mighto. not tap", scolded Rustcell.
"Alright. Alright. Anyways, meet this fella" and pulled out a tiny organelle, from behind him, "I call it Bingo."
Bingo was very small, like one of those ____. It was constantly vibrating ,so much so that it was difficult to spot it being still.
"This is our key to all the knowledge, ever learnt by our forefathers, the stories of our origin, the Achievements of the great ones, the defeats and the mistakes behind them. Its amazing that the key to all this immense wisdom is this little creature that i accidentally created while working on creating something to organize my house.", said Eincell smiling. He could see Rustcell tensing up more and he understood why Rustcell was worried.
"'Do Not Access' means what?", asked Rustcell rhetorically and angrily. The kind of anger which grown ups learn to fake to teach young ones a lesson.
Eincell continued smiling, " I always thought it was an invitation to come and have a look.", he said teasingly. " Why not start with 'Do Not Access' then " said Eincell.
Rustcell was alarmed yet pleased by this young cell's inquisitiveness. He had no idea about Bingo though and no idea what Eincell was going to show.
"Bingo! Do Not Access", commanded Eincell, addressing Bingo. Bingo, who seemed restless, instantly moved inside the house on hearing the command. And before Rustcell could think another thought , Bingo was back exactly in the place he stood a second before.
Then on Eincell's sign, started speaking.
Bingo stopped speaking on Eincell's sign.
"Rustcell", said Eincell, " I present to you the key to all cell knowledge, but I need you to help me ask the right questions. I believe that right questions are the medium to move from a small pool of knowledge to an ocean of knowledge and beyond. I lack even the smallest pool to start off with and hence, I need your help"
"Bingo is trained to read from my copy of DNA, but I have structured it to accept commands from you too. Please feel free and take us on a ride on Bingo, dear Rustcell."

"Do Not Access is a name given to the book of life and is common among young cells. Its true name is Defeats 'N Achievements (DNA). Young cells are not supposed to know its true name till they come of age, to avoid them accidentally, damaging or overwriting their only copy.
Since you are reading this page from the DNA itself , you probably know it is not called Do Not Access, and so let me write about Defeats 'N Achievements.
Defeats 'N Achievements (DNA) is a collection of all written record by the ancestors of a particular cell. It has been passed on through ages and through generations. Each cell has a unique copy of this book. Many pages and chapters are common across cells but some chapters written by immediate Mapas and their Mapas may be different even for neighbouring cells. It is said to contain all knowledge ever known, but it is so vast that it is impossible to read everything in a lifetime.
[edit by Eincell] I have made an orgenelle, named Bingo, which is capable of searching through the whole book and answer any question that you ask. I think when information is abound, probing it with relevant questions is the only way to get juice out of it.[/edit by Eincell]"

01/01 Eincell's secret
The cells
Part 1: Defeats 'N Achievements
Chapter 1: Eincells secret
“ I have already understood, in this early part of my life, that power of information is immense”, was how Eincell had started to convince Rustcell, half an hour ago.
Eincell, though very young, is still the most intelligent cell in the most intelligent organ of the most intelligent organism on earth. He is prolific in his thoughts and crystal clear in his logic. So much so that, he proved to himself, yesterday, that even though he is the most intelligent cell in the brain of the most intelligent human being, he may still not be the most intelligent cell alive.
He ingeniously reasoned that there may exist a more intelligent cell in the foot of an owl, for all he knows, but that cell will never be discovered because of poor representation of the organ and the species , to which it belongs, as a whole.
He cherished epiphanies like this one, which made him feel wiser, yet at the same time humbled him.
One thing is sure though. Eincell was the most inquisitive cell, not just in his time, but the most curious and adventurous one since Pronu. Probably, the reason why Rustcell, was drawn to this young cell, was because he saw a reflection of Pronu in him.
Eincell was trying to get Rustcell on board of a secret project he had developed. He guaranteed that , Rustcell would be impressed by what he saw. Rustcell, though pretending that he was not convinced, was dying to see Eincell’s demo. Rustcell, was old and really dying too. He, was from the times, when it was believed that the number of words allotted to each cell were limited and once they run out of them , they die. Rustcell knew that though most were not received well, he had spoken far too many, and must be nearing the end of his Quota.
Eincell was convinced that he wanted to take this journey with Rustcell. Not many seeking their origins, are lucky to have the oldest living cell in the organism, who is also an established historian, in their vicinity. Eincell was not going to let Rustcell say no.
After an hour and a lifetime worth of words showered by Eincell on him, Rustcell , with a slight elongation and upward bend of his body, ( which in cell body language is equivalent of a smile) said ,” Hell Well”
